Our Neurosurgery clinic is open for consultations every Friday for conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. Our team specializes in both operative and non-operative diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, critical care, and rehabilitation of patients with nervous system disorders.

The nervous system consists of two different components:

• The Central Nervous System – The brain and spine contain many nerves and serve as the “highway” for nerve signals throughout the body.
• The Peripheral Nervous System – This system consists of all the neural elements outside of the brain and spinal cord.

Nerves are responsible for carrying messages from one area of the body to the other. For instance, when you touch a rough, hard surface with your finger, it is the nerves in the fingertips that sends the “touch” signals to the brain to let it know what it’s feeling. Likewise, nerves are responsible for transmitting pain signals. The body feels pain so that you can be aware that something is damaging you, which is why pain is an important function.

When your nerves are damaged, your body may feel pain when nothing is wrong, stop feeling pain entirely, or experience numb, tingling feelings in the affected areas. There are hundreds of types of neurological disorders. You will need an experienced and skilled neurosurgeon’s help treating them.
