Patient and Visitor Code of Conduct

Myrtue Medical Center (MMC) is committed to providing high-quality healthcare. Our patients, visitors, and staff are entitled to receive and deliver care in a safe, caring and inclusive environment in any MMC space. To ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff, MMC has established the following guidelines in our Code of Conduct.

Everyone will be treated with respect, kindness, and dignity. Words or actions that are racist, hostile, harassing, discriminatory, or disrespectful are not welcome and will not be accepted.

Examples of prohibited actions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Criminal activity while on MMC property or receiving MMC services.
  2. Harassing or discriminatory comments about race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other personal traits
  3. Refusal to see a practitioner or other staff member based on these personal traits
  4. Physical or verbal threats and assaults
  5. Throwing objects and/or destroying property
  6. Sexual or vulgar words or actions
  7. Yelling, using profanity, or other actions that disrupt another patient’s care experience
  8. Photographing and/or audio or video recording anyone without permission

Adherence to the Code of Conduct keeps our facility safe, and our staff focused on providing high-quality patient care. Patients and visitors who violate the Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the facility, have limited access to MMC, or be asked to make other plans for future care other than Emergency Department medical screening or emergency care.

If you witness, or are the target of any of these behaviors while at MMC, please report it to an MMC staff member.

We thank you for your cooperation.
