Myrtue Medical Center announces the addition of Christopher Gartin, MD, as General Surgeon. Dr. Gartin will join Myrtue’s nationally recognized Top 20 and 5-Star Critical Access Hospital and serve patients needing scheduled or emergent general surgery. He will see patients in the Surgery & Specialty Clinic, 1220 Chatburn Ave, Harlan, starting on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Dr. Gartin received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita. Dr. Gartin is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is currently serving as a general surgeon at Fremont Methodist Health in Fremont, Neb., where he has practiced since 2017.
As a general surgeon, Dr. Gartin performs various surgeries and procedures for conditions of the colon, appendix, gallbladder, hernia, breast, and stomach, as well as skin lesions and other conditions. He is trained in the latest robotic systems and is particularly interested in robotic-assisted surgery, mainly for hernia repair. He likes the benefits it can provide.
“Dr. Gartin's dedication to his patients and mutual interest in advancing services in our community aligns with our mission to provide outstanding healthcare to those we serve,” said Barry Jacobsen, CEO of Myrtue.
In 2024, Myrtue's Board approved the purchase of a da Vinci surgical system for robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. This innovation will further elevate Myrtue’s surgical care and open new possibilities for patients.
“My goal is to treat every patient like I would a family member or friend. I want to make sure that every patient feels heard and is confident in their treatment plan,” said Dr. Gartin. “By utilizing robotic-assisted surgery, we can offer minimally invasive options that lead to quicker recovery times, less pain, and improved outcomes. I am eager to join Myrtue and work alongside the surgery team to bring advanced surgical options to the community.”
Dr. Gartin and his wife have two small children. Dr.Gartin is looking forward to serving our community.
