Myrtue Medical Center Emergency and Inpatient Departments are Nationally Recognized for Commitment to Quality Care

The American Heart Association (AHA) has recognized over 3,000 hospitals, clinics, and emergency response organizations across the country for their commitment to improving outcomes for cardiovascular patients, and Myrtue has received multiple awards.
These recognitions are tied to AHA’s Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® quality improvement initiatives for cardiovascular outcomes. To help eliminate rural health care outcome disparities, the AHA this year introduced specific awards to rural hospitals, distinguishing participants for improving care and reducing barriers to the delivery of consistent science-based treatment, leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times, and fewer returns to the hospital.
Get With The Guidelines® award categories cover treatment for stroke, chest pain, cardiac arrest, heart failure, ST-elevation myocardial infarction heart attack, Type 2 diabetes, and atrial fibrillation.
Myrtue’s consistent recognition by the American Heart Association (AHA) for six consecutive years highlights its excellence in treating STEMI heart attacks, a critical condition requiring quick and effective intervention. Myrtue’s approach to cardiovascular emergencies does not only involve quick response times but also integrates the latest research-based methods to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. In addition, Myrtue's commitment to rapid stroke and coronary care has earned them additional awards, emphasizing their comprehensive approach to managing life-threatening conditions.
Myrtue's capabilities were further acknowledged through the Iowa Pediatric Emergency Assessment & Care Recognition Program, which honored their readiness to handle pediatric emergencies. This accolade reflects Myrtue's ability to provide specialized care that meets the unique needs of children, ensuring that young patients receive timely and appropriate treatment in emergencies.
“Myrtue Medical Center provides knowledgeable and evidenced based care in the Emergency Department and throughout the whole facility as evidenced by the multiple recognitions by the American Heart Association. We are very proud of the care we provide and are looking forward to getting the chance to do that in the new Emergency Department with expanded rooms and updated equipment. Providing care to a wide range of patients is what we do well and we are very lucky to have the support and new facilities to care for our community,” said Jenny Lefeber RN, BSN, TCRN, manager of Myrtue’s Emergency Department.
