Community Open House Planned for Myrtue Medical Center's New Emergency Department on Monday, November 18, 2024

Myrtue Medical Center is excited to announce the Community Open House for the new Emergency Department (ED) on Monday, November 18, 2024. Myrtue Medical Center’s team members, board members and administrators will be joined by the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce members at the new ED for a ribbon cutting at 4:00 PM, tours and refreshments will follow. The Community Open House will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

The newly remodeled and renovated Emergency Department (ED) will begin taking patients on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. This facility has been designed to enhance patient care and streamline emergency services. Upon opening, the temporary ED will transition to this new space, ensuring patients receive care in a modern, efficient, and comfortable environment.

The new Emergency Department features advanced medical technology, improved patient flow, and expanded treatment areas, all aimed at providing timely and effective care. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals are excited to welcome patients to this upgraded facility, where we are committed to delivering emergency medical services. We look forward to serving our community in this enhanced capacity and continuing to provide excellent healthcare when it is needed most.

The new ED includes four exam rooms, two large trauma rooms, and two procedure rooms. The physical layout also will allow for greater visibility and proximity to each patient room within the ED from a new centralized nursing station. Additionally, the design accommodates a larger waiting room and more private check-in at admissions. This renovation will provide over approximately 8,600 square feet of space. Myrtue’s ED will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year.

“Emergency department services are essential to our rural community,” said Barry Jacobsen, CEO of Myrtue Medical Center. “This expansion and renovation allows us to provide more efficient a nd effective patient care. We are committed to providing quality healthcare services and this expansion will enable us to serve our community better and more comprehensively.”
