Myrtue Medical Center’s Central Utility Plant Project
As Myrtue Medical Center progresses through the hospitals master facility plan and into the next generation of facility use, the Hospital Board approved an infrastructure improvement project to the central utility plant. The project addresses replacement of aged heating and cooling systems that support the hospital’s essential services. The central utilities plant renovation includes modifications to existing site utilities, construction of exterior infrastructure and replacement of the heating and cooling equipment for the hospital.
As you may have noticed, exterior work east of the hospital by 12th street (trenching, utility connection’s, and installation of cooling equipment) is taking place currently, and will transition to mostly interior work leading into the fall. The new exterior cooling equipment will be screened from view by an open-air decorative fence. None of this work will require additional square footage to the building structure. Other exterior air handling equipment currently in use will be moved inside the existing central utility plant.
Construction involves careful coordination that maintains essential hospital operations throughout the course of the project's multiple phases. All hospital services and the main entrance to the emergency department from Garfield Ave remain unaffected. Project completion is targeted for August 2022 and will provide reliable and efficient equipment to the hospital for years to come.
