Leading Healthcare Providers Recommend COVID-19 Vaccine

On June 23, 2021, the following healthcare organizations collaboratively released a statement encouraging everyone age 12 and older to receive the COVID-19 vaccine:

- Association of Public Health Laboratories
- Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)
- Big Cities Health Coalition, Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists
- Infectious Diseases Society of America
- National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO)

Some data to consider:
- Currently, 64.1% of Shelby County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19, most are fully vaccinated.
- 59.7% of all COVID-19 vaccine age-eligible Shelby County residents (12 and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
- As of July 15th, 99% of those hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 are unvaccinated individuals as reported by the Director of the National Institutes of Health.
