Medical Technologist (Night Shift)

Laboratory Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works 6:00 pm to 6:00 am (six days on; eight days off).  Performs various chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.  Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and prepares tissues to be sent for pathology.  Applies techniques used in fields of bacteriology, hematology, serology, blood banking, and chemical and morphological examinations.  Records and charts laboratory test results.  Is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results.  No experience is necessary other than that received in a medical technology school.  Must be a graduate of an accredited school of approved medical technology, and it is recommended to be registered by the ASCP, NCA, HHS or equivalent as an MT or MLT.

Entry Desk Clerk

Petersen Family Wellness Center

On-call position.  Works various hours Saturdays and Sundays.  Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance upon entering the Wellness Center.  Assists with membership enrollment, POS, and customer service to Wellness Center participants; ensures the general appearance of the facility, entry desk and vending areas are clean and in good working order, and performs documentation and record keeping as required.  Knowledge and use of exercise equipment preferred.  PFWC will provide on-the-job training.

Nursing Supervisor

On-call position (12 hours per week).  Works various days Sunday through Saturday; works every third weekend.  Manages nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care.  Directs, coordinates, and participates in the delivery of patient care.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  staff performance appraisals, staff and scheduling, quality improvement, achievement of departmental goals, and membership on Nurse Management Council.  Develops, implements, and evaluates goals, policies, and procedures, standards of practice, and new programs for the department.  Maintains knowledge and compliance with regulatory agencies and standards/safety goals.  Prefer two years clinical experience in Emergency Department as well as the Medical/Surgical area.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must have current Iowa Registered Nurse license.  Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required.

Registered Nurse or Surgery Tech

Perioperative Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week).  Works Monday through Friday + call required.  RN utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Outpatient Clinic setting.  Directs and provides patient/family teaching.  Provides leadership when working with health team member in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Surgical Technician performs a variety of peri-operative duties with limited direct patient care during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases under the direct supervision of an RN.  RN – applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases using available resources in the assessment process.  Documents nursing assessments and intervention. Communicates information to peers, supervisors, physicians.  Surgery Tech – handles instruments, supplies, and equipment essential to the surgical procedure.  Displays understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates needs of the surgeon.  Functions collaboratively with the medical staff and other disciplines to provide and enhance patient care.  Maintains the sterile field.  Cleans and prepares instruments for disinfection and terminal sterilization.  RN – must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program and have a current Iowa license.  Surgery Tech – must have certification in Surgical Technology.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required within three months of date of hire.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of hire.

Registered Nurse

Public Health Department

Part-time position (24 hours per week).  Works three days per week, based on needs of department.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care.  Provides leadership when working with team members in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice.  Promotes health and wellness through education, clinical practice, and home care for the ill and disabled.  Completes assessments/ reassessments, pertinent documentation, plan of care and evaluations on time.  Completes forms per policy for admission/readmission for Public Health services.  Communicates with practitioners to keep them informed of changes in patient condition or problems.  Experience in nursing preferred.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required.

Registered Nurses

Medical/Surgical Department

Two on-call positions.  Schedule varies.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings:  Medical-Surgical., Swing Bed, OB, SCU, ER, Outpatient, and Perioperative. Directs and provides patient/family teaching.  Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Completes admission assessments, documentation, and reassessments.  Provides and documents patient/family education.  Keeps practitioner/charge nurse informed of change in patient condition.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of date of hire.

Education Certification Instructor

Education Department

On-call position.  Schedule varies; works evenings and weekends as needed.  Plans, coordinates, instructs, and evaluates all classes that he/she teaches for Myrtue Medical Center.  Responsible for teaching PALS and ACLS.  Classes include, but are not limited to healthcare provider and heart saver BLS.  Ensures course content follows the most current American Heart Association guidelines.  Provides instruction regarding precourse planning, organization, and physical setup to facilitate optimal learning.  Demonstrates teaching techniques to meet the learning needs of a variety of participants.  Keeps accurate records of attendance, participant information, tuition, and other statistics as requested.  At least five years teaching experience as CPR instructor preferred.  Current American Heart Association course completion card for the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Instructor course is required at a minimum.

Fitness Monitor

On-call position.  Works various hours; evenings and weekends.  Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance to Wellness Center participants; ensures the general appearance of the facility and equipment are clean and in good working order, performs documentation and record keeping as required.  Is aware of proper equipment usage and operation including safety precautions and ensures that participants follow such usage and operation.  Conducts basic health screens, individual fitness assessments, and body composition analyses for participants as needed.  Obtains CPR certification and recertifies every two years.  PFWC will provide on-the-job training.

Registered Nurse/Charge Nurse

Medical/Surgical Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week); works various days Sunday through Saturday 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.  Responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and managing nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care in the Med/Surg inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU areas.  Coordinates Med/Surg inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU activities and programs with other hospital services and involved physicians.  Assumes shift clinical and management responsibility for the Med/Surg areas.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to polices and procedures, quality improvement/quality assurance activities, and membership in committees as assigned.  Addresses day-to-day departmental concerns, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.  Enforces standards/regulations:  CAH, CMS, and Safety.  Completes appropriate assessments/reassessments with documentation.  Provides age-appropriate care.  At least one year of experience including Med/Surg and SCU preferred.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Current certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support for RNs required.

Fitness Instructor

Petersen Family Wellness Center

Multiple on-call positions available.  Works various hours as needed.  The Certified Wellness Exercise Instructor provides qualified instruction of safe and effective exercise to all participants of the general healthy public, offers exercise modification to fit individual needs of participants, and helps foster a commitment to fitness as a lifelong goal.  Develops class goals, and determines what students can expect to gain from program.  Class activity/choreography is well planned to ensure movement safety and sequencing.  Teaching experience or experience at being in front of people, or some type of leadership skills preferred.  Background in exercise or an interest in exercise preferred and must hold a certification for some type of class teaching.
