Phlebotomist

Laboratory Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week).  Works various hours Sunday through Saturday.  Performs various waived or moderate complexity testing in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology, and urinalysis.  Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and prepares specimens for reference laboratory.  Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results.  Assists in the clerical duties of the lab and assists the medical technologists.  Completes order entry information utilizing computer system.  Assures correct specimen collection.  No experience is necessary.  Completion of high school or equivalent preferred and documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens.  Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA)

Medical/Surgical Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week).  Works various days/hours.  Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care.  Is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, ADLs, assessments, documentation, etc, and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN.  Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient hygiene and personal care.  Assists with ambulation and transfers.  Completion of an approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.

Registered Nurse/Charge Nurse

Medical/Surgical Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week); works various days Sunday through Saturday 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.  Responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and managing nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care in the Med/Surg inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU areas.  Coordinates Med/Surg inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU activities and programs with other hospital services and involved physicians.  Assumes shift clinical and management responsibility for the Med/Surg areas.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to polices and procedures, quality improvement/quality assurance activities, and membership in committees as assigned.  Addresses day-to-day departmental concerns, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.  Enforces standards/regulations:  CAH, CMS, and Safety.  Completes appropriate assessments/reassessments with documentation.  Provides age-appropriate care.  At least one year of experience including Med/Surg and SCU preferred.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Current certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support for RNs required.

Environmental Services Staff

Environmental Services Department

On-call position.  Works every fifth weekend, rotates holidays.  Works 1-2 days per week 5:30 am to 2:00 pm as needed various days Sunday through Saturday.  Assumes responsibility for overall cleaning of patient rooms, work areas, and public areas according to standards of the hospital.  May be required to sort and/or transport laundry.  Successful completion of the work on a regular basis would result in a clean, safe, and attractive environment which is conducive to the recovery of ill patients and contributes positively to staff moral and the public relations of the hospital.  Training and experience not required.  Hospital will do on-the-job training.  Must know how to use common house cleaning devices to keep areas clean.  Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards.  Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.

Registered Nurse

Perioperative Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week).  Works Monday through Friday plus call required.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the outpatient clinic setting.  Directs and provides patient/family teaching.  Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases, using available resources in the assessment process.  Documents nursing assessments and intervention, etc.  Communicates information to peers, supervisors, physicians.  Organizes patient care, family/patient teaching, and other assigned duties.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of date of hire.

Registered Nurse – Charge Nurse

Certified Nurses Assistant

Medical/Surgical Department

On-call position.  Schedule varies.  Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care.  Is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to:  ADLs, assessments, documentation, etc, and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN.  Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient hygiene and personal care.  Assists with ambulation and transfers.  Assists with indirect patient care activities including passing trays, making beds, cleaning kitchen and utility room, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, cleaning equipment after use, and other unit maintenance.  Restocks supplies.  Completion of approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.

Ultrasound Technologist

Diagnostic Imaging Department

On-call position.  Schedule varies.  Works various days Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Performs ultrasound procedures, clerical duties, and shares in departmental work.  Produces consistent quality ultrasound examinations by selecting proper technical factors and using proper examination protocol.  Exhibits proper positioning techniques.  Performs special procedures (US guided needle biopsies with sterile technique).  Demonstrates knowledge in maintenance of equipment, transducer, and disinfection equipment.  Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and neatness in paperwork/computer preparation for patient procedures.  Experience is not required but some work experience is preferred.  Must be a high school graduate with required training in ultrasound.  Must be registered with the ARDMS or RDMS and RVT.  Must be able to perform vascular ultrasound exams and prefer to be able to perform general ultrasound exams also.

Behavioral Health Professional (LISW, LMHC)

Behavioral Health Department

Full-time position.  Works Tuesday (8:00 am to 8:00 pm), Wednesday (8:00 am to 5:00 pm), Thursday (8:00 am to 8:00 pm), and Friday (8:00 am to 4:00 pm).  Serves as an active participant in the clinical programs of the department, including both direct treatment of outpatients, performance of evaluation activities, provides emergency services, consultation, and education.  Provides need assessment.  Completes comprehensive psychosocial assessment to include addiction issues and mental status exam.  Conducts therapy sessions with client(s) and groups.  Reviews cases to assure quality of care.  Provides crises intervention including on-call emergency services.  Two years experience or equivalent or field experience in a similar setting during educational process preferred.  Must be eligible to be licensed in the State of Iowa to practice as a Licensed Mental Health Provider.  Interns, new graduates, and candidates with provisional license will be considered.  A Master’s degree in the Human Service field such as Counseling, Social Work, or other mental health related field required.

Fitness Instructor

Petersen Family Wellness Center

Multiple on-call positions available.  Works various hours as needed.  The Certified Wellness Exercise Instructor provides qualified instruction of safe and effective exercise to all participants of the general healthy public, offers exercise modification to fit individual needs of participants, and helps foster a commitment to fitness as a lifelong goal.  Develops class goals, and determines what students can expect to gain from program.  Class activity/choreography is well planned to ensure movement safety and sequencing.  Teaching experience or experience at being in front of people, or some type of leadership skills preferred.  Background in exercise or an interest in exercise preferred and must hold a certification for some type of class teaching.
