Rural Health Clinic
Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works 8:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and rotates every sixth Saturday. Is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment and medical suppliers. Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Organizes the workload and assists the medical provider in order of priority with many interruptions. Competent within scope of practice for care of all ages of patients. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases using available resources in the assessment process. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license or be a graduate of medical assistant training – possessing current certification.
Specialty Clinic Department
On-call position. Works various days as needed Monday through Friday. Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic setting. Directs and provides patient/family teaching. Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in clinical setting. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases using available resources in the assessment process. Documents nursing assessments and intervention, etc. Competent within scope of practice for care of all ages. Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa. Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required within 12 months of date of hire.
On-call position; schedule varies with departmental needs. Performs a variety of perioperative duties with limited direct patient care during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment essential to the surgical procedure. Displays understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates needs of the surgeon. Functions collaboratively with the medical staff and other disciplines to provide and enhance patient care needs, individualizing care as appropriate. Assists the physician with surgery. Must be certified as a Surgical Technologist. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.
Petersen Family Wellness Center
On-call position. Works various hours as needed. The Certified Wellness Exercise Instructor provides qualified instruction of safe and effective exercise to all participants of the general healthy public, offers exercise modification to fit individual needs of participants, and helps foster a commitment to fitness as a lifelong goal. Develops class goals, and determines what students can expect to gain from program. Class activity/choreography is well planned to ensure movement safety and sequencing. Teaching experience or experience at being in front of people, or some type of leadership skills preferred. Background in exercise or an interest in exercise preferred and must hold a certification for some type of class teaching.
Petersen Family Wellness Center
On-call position. Schedule varies, works as needed. Will be able to demonstrate and provide expertise in the field of personal training, exercise science, and fitness evaluation. The individual will be administering health screening and fitness testing on and off site. Will create exercise prescriptions based on health requirements and contraindications. Will conduct lectures and training sessions on various aspects of fitness and has a good knowledge base on cardiovascular and strength training. Prior experience as a personal trainer, exercise physiology, and supervision of personnel preferred. Degree in exercise physiology or related field of study preferred or be a Certified Personal Trainer.
Petersen Family Wellness Center
One full-time position and multiple on-call positions available. Full-time position works Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. On-call positions work nights and weekends as needed. Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of those using the Petersen Family Wellness Center/Lewis Family Aquatic Complex. Prevents and responds to emergencies. Enforces rules and regulations of PFWC. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the Aquatic Center. Makes sure water slides are working properly. Current lifeguard certification required. Certification class begins October 2018.

RN Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Perioperative setting. Directs and provides patient/family teaching. Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) Performs a variety of Perioperative duties with limited direct patient care during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases under the direct supervision of an RN. Performs initial (pre-op admission) and ongoing follow-up assessments with complete and appropriate documentation. Summarizes assessment data and makes nursing diagnoses. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment essential to the surgical procedure. RN – Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program. Must have a current Iowa license. Scrub Tech – Must have certification of Surgical Technology. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within three months of the date of hire.
Occupational Health Outreach Department
Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with one afternoon off per week. Is responsible for administering the occupational health service. Responsible for preventative and health maintenance services and care of the injured worker according to approved nursing protocol. Must be knowledgeable of workers compensation regulations, must maintain precise health records and other required documentation, and must promote working relationships within the occupational health team of employer, nurse, and physician. Adheres to MMC’s compliance program policies and procedures by complying with applicable laws related to job responsibilities and refraining from knowingly participating in illegal activities or failing to meet affirmative legal duties. Identifies primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimized health of business community. Qualified candidates must have at least two years of CMA experience. Previous experience in occupational health field preferred, case management, injury assessment is helpful. Intermediate computer skills are essential in use of an electronic health record. CMA certification required. Must be a graduate of an accredited certified medical assistant program and maintain a current Iowa license.
Various positions/hours available. Assists the professional nursing staff and ED medical practitioners in providing care to patients in the Emergency Department. Responsible for performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment for the area. Performs EKGs. Functions under the direct supervision of an RN. Reports to the ED Nurse Manager. Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient care. Completion of an approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.
Part-time position (24 hours per week). Hours of coverage include: 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Works three 8-hour shifts or two 12-hour shifts. Performs various waived testing in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology, and urinalysis. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and prepares specimens for reference laboratory. Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results. Assists in the clerical duties of the lab and assists the medical technologists. No experience necessary. Completion of high school or equivalent preferred and documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens. Basic computer knowledge preferred.
