Nursing Supervisor

Nursing Administration Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week).  Works various days Sunday through Saturday 12-hour shifts (7:00 pm to 7:00 am).  Works every third weekend.  Manages nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care.  Directs, coordinates, and participates in the delivery of patient care.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staff performance appraisals, staff and scheduling, quality improvement, achievement of departmental goals, and membership on Nurse Management Council.  Maintains knowledge and compliance with regulatory agencies and standards/safety goals.  Maintains effective communication/relationships with medical practitioners, medical director, and nursing leader. At least two years of clinical experience in the Emergency Department as well as the Medical/Surgical area required.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required.

Case Manager

Utilization Review Department

Part-time position (16 hours per week).  Works various days Monday through Friday as needed.  Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, or 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.  Is responsible for facilitating the patient’s hospitalization from pre-admission through discharge.  Coordinates with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health team members to expedite medically appropriate, cost-effective care.  Applies clinical expertise and medical appropriateness criteria to resource utilization and discharge planning.  Will provide case management intervention by assessing, monitoring, evaluating options and services to effect appropriate, individualized plan for the patient across the continuum of care.  Must be a Registered Nurse with five years experience in clinical nursing; previous utilization review and case management experience preferred.  Computer knowledge required.  Must be currently licensed in the State of Iowa as a Registered Nurse.  Must be a graduate of an approved Professional Nursing program.

Environmental Services Staff

Environmental Services Department

On-call position.  Days/hours vary according to department needs.  Rotates weekends and holidays.  Assumes responsibility for overall cleaning of patient rooms, work areas, and public areas according to standards of the hospital.  May be required to sort and/or transport laundry.  Successful completion of the work on a regular basis would result in a clean, safe, and attractive environment which is conducive to the recovery of ill patients and contributes positively to staff morale and the public relations of the hospital.  Thoroughly cleans assigned areas in a timely manner by applying cleaning techniques effectively.  Training and experience not required.  Hospital will provide on-the-job training.  Must know how to use common house cleaning devices to keep areas clean.  Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards.  Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.

Fitness Instructor

Petersen Family Wellness Center

Multiple on-call positions available.  Works various hours as needed.  The Certified Wellness Exercise Instructor provides qualified instruction of safe and effective exercise to all participants of the general healthy public, offers exercise modification to fit individual needs of participants, and helps foster a commitment to fitness as a lifelong goal.  Develops class goals, and determines what students can expect to gain from program.  Class activity/choreography is well planned to ensure movement safety and sequencing.  Teaching experience or experience at being in front of people, or some type of leadership skills preferred.  Background in exercise or an interest in exercise preferred and must hold a certification for some type of class teaching.

Lifeguards

Petersen Family Wellness Center

Multiple on-call positions available.  Work nights and weekends as needed.  Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of those using the Petersen Family Wellness Center/Lewis Family Aquatic Complex.  Prevents and responds to emergencies.  Enforces rules and regulations of PFWC.  Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the Aquatic Center.  Makes sure water slides are working properly.  Current lifeguard certification required.  Certification class begins March 2019.

Registered Nurse

Medical/Surgical Department and OB Department

Multiple positions, works various shifts.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings:  Medical-Surgical., Swing Bed, OB/Nursery, SCU, ER, Outpatient, and Perioperative. Directs and provides patient/family teaching.  Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Provides intense nursing care to laboring women and must be able to access labor dystocia, non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns, or any arising OB related emergencies.  Provides education, advice and support to laboring women and support person or people through different therapies, different pain management plans, and individual birth plans.  Communicates with physicians accurately and thoroughly.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of date of hire.

Entry Desk Clerk

Petersen Family Wellness Center

Works various hours; nights and weekends.  Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance upon entering the Wellness Center.  Assists with membership enrollment, POS, and customer service to Wellness Center participants; ensures the general appearance of the facility, entry desk and vending areas are clean and in good working order, and performs documentation and record keeping as required.  Knowledge and use of exercise equipment preferred.  PFWC will provide on-the-job training.

Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA)

Medical/Surgical Department

Multiple positions.  Various shifts available, days, nights, or weekends.  Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care.  Responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to:  ADLs, assessments, documentation, etc, and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN.  Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient hygiene and personal care.  Assists with ambulation and transfers.  Completion of an approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.

Multiple positions available.  Shifts vary; days, nights, or weekends.  Weekend package optional.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings:  Med/Surg, Swing Bed, OB, SCU, ER, Outpatient, and Perioperative.  Directs and provides patient/family teaching.  Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Completes admission assessments and documentation.  Initiates and individualizes care plans on admission.  Keeps practitioner/charge nurse informed of change in patient condition.  Must be a graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of date of hire.
