Phlebotomist

Laboratory Department

Part-time position (24 hours per week).  Works various days Sunday through Saturday.  Hours of coverage include:  6:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Length of shift varies.  Rotates weekends.  Performs various waived or moderate complexity testing in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology, and urinalysis.  Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and prepares specimens for reference laboratory.  Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results.  Assists in the clerical duties of the lab and assists the medical technologists.  No experience is necessary.  Completion of high school or equivalent preferred and documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens.  Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Environmental Services Staff

Environmental Services Department

Full-time position (40 hours per week).  Works five days Sunday through Saturday 4:30 am to 1:00 pm.  Rotates weekends and holidays.  Assumes responsibility for overall cleaning of patient rooms, work areas, and public areas according to standards of the hospital.  May be required to sort and/or transport laundry.  Successful completion of the work on a regular basis would result in a clean, safe, and attractive environment which is conducive to the recovery of ill patients and contributes positively to staff morale and the public relations of the hospital.  Training and experience not required.  Hospital will do on-the-job training.  Must know how to use common house cleaning devices to keep areas clean.  Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards.  Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.

Food Service Worker

Dietary Department

Part-time position (24 hours per week).  Works three days per week 6:00 am to 2:30 pm OR 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.  Works extra days as needed.  Works every other weekend.  Rotates holidays.  Performs a variety of food service tasks to ensure deliverance of meals/food for patients, cafeteria, and special meetings throughout the health system.  Sets up cafeteria for breaks and meals; serves customers; runs cash register; washes dishes; stocks supplies; cleans; delivers patient trays to floor; general duties as assigned.  One year of food service experience is desirable, but not required.  Must have general knowledge of cooking and using kitchen machines and equipment.  Completion of high school or equivalent required.

Patient Access Specialist

Patient Access Department

Part-time position (20 hours per week).  Schedule varies:  days are between Monday and Saturday.  Hours are between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm.  Maintains and updates computer scheduling files.  Must be congenial and polite at all times in person and over the phone.  Must be familiar with policies regarding scheduling of ancillary tests and appointments, maintaining current patient information and records, and maintaining strict confidentiality.  Must be familiar with admitting, discharging, insurance forms, confidentiality of patient information, and dealing with the general public.  Schedules appointments for patients in centralized scheduling office and over the phone.  Completes and updates all patient registration/insurance data prior to patient being seen in the clinic.  Admits inpatients  and outpatients and prepares related documents.  General office experience preferred, but not required.  Must have a thorough knowledge of the switchboard and filing systems, all clinic policies and procedures to clinic office, and hospital scheduling protocol.  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Secretarial training would be an asset, but not required.

Entry Desk Clerk

Petersen Family Wellness Center

Part-time position (16 hours per week).  Works Monday, Friday, and Saturday variable hours; nights and weekends.  Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance upon entering the Wellness Center.  Assists with membership enrollment, POS, and customer service to Wellness Center participants; ensures the general appearance of the facility, entry desk, and vending area are clean and in good working order, and performs documentation and record keeping as required.  Knowledge and use of exercise equipment preferred.  PFWC will provide on-the-job training.

Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA)

Medical/Surgical Department

Part-time position (24 hours per week).  Works 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Works every other weekend.  Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care.  Is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to:  ADL’s, assessments, documentation, etc, and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN.  Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient hygiene and personal care.  Assists with ambulation and transfers.  Completion of an approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.

Entry Desk Clerk

Petersen Family Wellness Center

On-call position.  Works Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday variable hours; nights and weekends.  Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance upon entering the Wellness Center.  Assists with membership enrollment, POS, and customer service to Wellness Center participants; ensures the general appearance of the facility, entry desk, and vending areas are clean and in good working order, and performs documentation and record keeping as required.  Ensures computers, entry software, and vending equipment are in good working condition.  Answers phone and receives messages in appropriate and courteous way.  Knowledge and use of exercise equipment preferred.  PFWC will provide on-the-job training.

Registered Nurse

Hospice Department

Full-time position (40 hours per week).  Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Rotates weekly call.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care.  Provides leadership when working with team members in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice.  Participates with the interdisciplinary team to develop the plan of care and supports Home Health and Hospice philosophies in caring for clients.  Promotes health and wellness through education, clinical practice, and home care for the ill and disabled.  Completes assessments/reassessments, pertinent documentation, plan of care and evaluations on time.  Makes visits according to orders.  Communicates with practitioner/charge nurse to keep them informed of changes (significant decline or improvement) in patient condition.  Identifies, initiates, and provides ongoing education to client, family, caregiver, significant other etc on issues identified during the assessment/reassessment process regarding medications, safety, falls, infections, disease process, nutrition, etc to promote client self-management.  Hospice experience and some lead nursing or supervisory experience preferred.  Has compassion, patience, and empathy for the patients and families being served.  Takes responsibility for knowledge of death and dying process, grief, bereavement, and nursing management of a hospice/home health patient.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
