Medical Surgical Nursing Department

The Med/Surg nurses are primarily responsible for assessing patients, identifying problems, developing plans of care, and evaluating patient care. The nurses collaborate frequently with the Medical Staff and other departments in the Medical Center regarding the care of patients. One of the important aspects of nursing care is patient advocacy.

 

The nursing staff on the Med/Surg Unit includes RN's, LPN's, CNA's and Unit Secretaries.

 

In addition to the regularly scheduled staff there are also on- call RN's LPN's and CNA's who work on a casual basis. Many of the RN's are cross-trained to work other areas including Outpatient, ER and Obstetrics. Most of the LPN's are cross-trained to work the Nursery.
