Outpatient Specialty Clinics

Part-time position (20 hours per week).  Works various days/hours Monday through Friday.  Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic setting.  Directs and provides patient/family teaching.  Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases using available resources in the assessment process.  Documents nursing assessments and intervention, etc.  Communicates information to peers, supervisors, physicians.  Competent within scope of practice for care of all ages of patients.  Medical Assistant – must be a graduate of medical assistant training, possessing current certification.  LPN – must be a graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing and possess a current LPN Iowa license.  Registered Nurse – must be a graduate from an approved professional nursing program and possess a current Iowa Registered Nurse license.  Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required within 12 months of date of hire.  Takes responsibility for pursuit of continuing education.

Certified Nurses Assistant

Medical/Surgical Department

On-call position.  Schedule varies.  Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care.  Is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to:  ADLs, assessments, documentation, etc, and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN.  Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient hygiene and personal care.  Assists with ambulation and transfers.  Assists with indirect patient care activities including passing trays, making beds, cleaning kitchen and utility room, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, cleaning equipment after use, and other unit maintenance.  Restocks supplies.  Completion of approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.

Case Manager

Utilization Review Department

Full-time position (36 hours per week).  Works Monday through Friday; four nine-hour shifts.  Hours are 6:00 am to 3:30 pm OR 7:00 am to 4:30 pm OR 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.  Is responsible for facilitating the patient’s hospitalization from pre-admission through discharge.  Coordinates with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health team members to expedite medically appropriate, cost-effective care.  Applies clinical expertise and medical appropriateness criteria to resource utilization and discharge planning.  Will advise the healthcare team and provide leadership as needed.  Is responsible for assessing the medical appropriateness, quality, and cost-effectiveness of hospitalized patients in accordance with established criteria.  This review activity may be conducted prospectively, concurrently, or retrospectively and in collaboration with patients, physicians, and other professionals.  Will provide case management intervention by assessing, monitoring, evaluating options and services to effect appropriate, individualized plan for the patient across the continuum of care.  Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program.  Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa.  Prefer individual with at least five years experience in clinical nursing; previous utilization review and case management experience also preferred.  Computer knowledge required.
